Mahendra Kutare
I'm a founder and engineer building DeepTrail — a trust layer that secures AI agents for enterprises through identity, authorization, and governance. Previously, I was a founding engineer at E8 Security (acquired by VMware), an early engineer at Boundary (acquired by BMC), and held technical leadership roles across data, machine learning, and AI at D2iQ (formerly, Mesosphere, acquired by Nutanix), NIO, and Motive.
Over the past 15+ years, I've built and scaled distributed systems, data platforms, machine learning infrastructure, AI infrastructure, and agentic AI platforms. My work has spanned cloud platforms, observability, cybersecurity, mobility, and autonomous driving, across both high-growth startups and enterprise organizations. I studied at IIT Bombay and Georgia Tech. I founded Kaavya Connections, a community dedicated to poetry, literature, and music.
Some of my writing:
- Authority Budgets: Why Valid Permissions Can Still Produce Invalid Execution
- Escalation Thresholds: When Autonomous Agents Should Stop Acting
- Remediation Asymmetry: When Agents Can Diagnose More Than They Can Fix
- Behavioral Induction: How Capabilities Shape Agent Execution
- Constraint Durability: The Missing Layer Between Policy and Trust
